Applications

Architecture
to applications.

These projects inform and apply FASTlab’s developing Evidence Intelligence Architecture™. Their questions, evidence types, outputs and stages of development differ; each requires context-specific review and validation.

Architectural principle

FASTlab is developing a shared evidence architecture informed by work across these domains. Knowledge records retain provenance, interpretation and validation status, with review as evidence and contexts change. Each application requires its own evidence, decision rules and validation; the shared aim is traceable reasoning from observation to decision.

Project Janus™

Value creation · Education · Workforce · Government programs

Project JANUS™ applies FASTlab’s architecture to value creation, programme readiness and stakeholder reporting. It helps organisations ask: is this initiative ready to create value, what evidence supports that claim, and where is confidence limited?

Developed in collaboration with MCB Business Partners. The Project JANUS™ trademark is held by MCB Business Partners. FASTlab develops and stewards the evidence method, interpretation logic, measurement architecture and reporting discipline that make the application credible.

Meaningful Measures

Digital health · Completed research · Evidence translation framework

Meaningful Measures informs the architecture through research on sensor-derived health evidence outside hospital. It asks which measures matter, in which contexts, at what thresholds, and with what level of validation before action is justified.

A completed NSSN Grand Challenge Fund project in partnership with the University of Newcastle and UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures — with industry partners including InteliCare, My Medic Watch, Hospital in Your Home and United for Care. The work produced a reusable evidence translation framework now available for deployment.

REGAIN

In development · Stroke recovery · HMRI supported

REGAIN is a post-stroke rehabilitation platform in development. The proposed pathway connects home-based activity, guided exercises, progress tracking and clinician review. FASTlab is contributing co-design and evidence interpretation; these capabilities require implementation and evaluation.

Supported by HMRI through the ARC Connected Sensors for Health hub. FASTlab researcher Jon Drummond contributes to the REGAIN project.

Architecture application · Complex systems

Complex Systems

Education · Net zero · Community energy · Regional transition

Evidence systems for programmes where outcomes are slow, contested and hard to attribute. Net zero education, community energy, regional workforce transition — these are domains where conventional evaluation fails because it looks too late, measures the wrong things, and cannot handle contested evidence.

Complex Systems applies the architecture to contested public, organisational and community problems where evidence is fragmented, actors disagree and simple metrics are not enough. FASTlab designs evidence architectures that handle ambiguity, preserve multiple stakeholder perspectives, and support decisions that can be defended even when evidence is incomplete.
